Capacity Building - The Global Alliance for Animals and People
The GAAP works with communities and individuals that are interested in growing and learning. From professionals to farmers, we provide the kind of capacity they need to meet the program goals and carry the work into the future.

we design and facilitate workshops for a variety of purposes such as disease elimination strategies, management planning, strategy and budget development and development of specific skill sets related to a project.

We provide the kind of training and skills that builds community independence and sustainability as well as creativity in solving issues so that future problems can be addressed without relying on outside assistance.

The Issues

we design and facilitate workshops for a variety of purposes such as disease elimination strategies, management planning, strategy and budget development and development of specific skill sets related to a project.

Many of the skills needed to lead and manage projects and solve problems have not been transferred to the appropriate individuals. Our capacity building is not restricted to people from Latin America, but involves cross-country, cross-cultural experiences and training.

Many people in North America are not familiar with the cultural reality of Latin America, while Latin Americans may have fewer opportunities than those in North America. Our programs bring North Americans together with Latin America to provide a rich experience in learning and sharing.

Our Capacity Building
Professional Exchange

We send Latin American veterinarians to Canada and the US to experience working in universities, laboratories and clinics. North American veterinarians are invited to work on our project sites with local professionals to learn about the local realities of practicing medicine and recognizing diseases seen in developing countries.

Student Exchange (ERN)

We invite students from North and Latin America to work together with us on our projects. Students can be involved in research, field or clinical services, education and disaster relief work.

Workshops & Training

Together with international project partners, we design and facilitate workshops for a variety of purposes such as disease elimination strategies, management planning, strategy and budget development and development of specific skill sets related to a project.

Local Community Members

We encourage local employment and we staff our own office and project site campaigns with professionals and non-professionals from the community. We build skills as needed in our employees including administration, project management and staff supervision, technical skills, research methods and manuscript writing.
