Nature: The secret ingredient

When a group of local teachers wanted to come out to our Nature Discovery Center as a way to come together as a team prior to the start of school, we were thrilled to welcome them! Their school, Colegio Aliwen, is guided by a holistic approach to education, encouraging curiosity and connection to nature, so we knew this would be the right place for them!

Estuvimos encantados de recibir a un grupo de profesores valdivianos que quiso venir a nuestro Centro de Descubrimiento de la Naturaleza como una forma de unirse como equipo antes del comienzo del año escolar. Su escuela, Colegio Aliwen, se guía por un enfoque holístico de la educación, fomentando la curiosidad y la conexión con la naturaleza, ¡así que sabíamos que este sería el lugar adecuado para ellos!

They spent the day doing teambuilding activities and learning about one another, all within the beautiful, tranquil setting of the Valdivian Forest. As the day progressed, we could see the impact this encounter with nature was having on them. They were laughing, smiling, and having a great time together. We know how much stress teachers face today, and watching this group of educators truly relax and enjoy themselves was such a rewarding experience.

Pasaron el día haciendo actividades de trabajo en equipo y aprendiendo unos de otros, todo dentro del hermoso y tranquilo entorno de la Selva Valdiviana. A medida que avanzaba el día, pudimos ver el impacto que estaba teniendo en ellos este encuentro con la naturaleza. Pudimos notar cómo el día transcurría y ellos estaban muy contentos pasando el día juntos. Sabemos cuánto estrés enfrentan los profesores hoy en día, y ver a este grupo de educadores relajarse y disfrutar fue una experiencia muy gratificante.
At the end of the day, the group told us they felt more united and motivated to start off the school year with a shared sense of adventure, trust, and respect for one another.
And that left us asking ourselves… Could all this really be accomplished within a set of four walls? Perhaps, but both the participants and our staff agree, nature is sometimes the secret ingredient that makes the magic happen!

Al final de la jornada, el grupo nos dijo que se sentían más unido y motivado para comenzar el año escolar con un sentido compartido de aventura, confianza y respeto mutuo.
Entonces nos preguntamos… ¿Realmente se podría lograr todo esto dentro de un conjunto de cuatro paredes? Tal vez, pero tanto los participantes como nosotros en GAAP estamos de acuerdo en que ¡la naturaleza es a veces el ingrediente secreto que hace que la magia suceda!
